DART participates in the California Vectorborne Disease Surveillance System (CalSurv), a cooperative effort with the California Department of Public Health and the Mosquito and Vector Control Association of California. The mission of CalSurv is to provide the clearest possible evidence to inform control policies for vectors and arboviruses.
DART also serves as a reference laboratory and provides arbovirus testing of mosquitoes and dead birds for mosquito control districts and public health agencies throughout the state. In addition to routine testing, recent work has focused on developing faster and more accurate methods for surveillance and pathogen discovery.
